Tecnópole en Verde
We are a technological ecosystem in a self-sustaining and friendly environment
Within Tecnopole’s Strategic Plan 2023-2025, we find the Sustainability Strategy, aiming to efficiently improve the Park’s sustainability management, with the following operational objectives:
1. Development of an SDG map
2. Reduction of Tecnopole´s carbon footprint
3. Promotion of activities regarding sustainability
4. Construction of a Wooden Singular Structure

Sustainability operational objective
1. Creation of the SDG map for the Park's managing body
Tecnopole is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), which are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.
In 2015, all the UN Member States endorsed 17 Goals as part of the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development, conceived to be reached in 15 years. The year 2020 marked the beginning of an ambitious decade of action to attain the Goals by 2030.
As part of the 2023-2025 Strategic Plan, Tecnópole has included the creation of an SDG map, where 16 areas for improvement have been identified. This initiative showcases the importance of the Sustainable Development Goals in the Tecnópole projects.
Tecnópole’s activity directly impacts 11 out of 15 SDG. Different project types are included, namely: education, governance, service availability, R&D and partnerships.
Tecnópole’s efforts are mainly focused on
• promoting decent work and economic growth (SDG 8)
• ensuring quality education (SDG 4)building resilient infrastructure, promoting sustainable industrialisation and fostering innovation (SDG 9)
• encouraging sustainable consumption and production patterns (SDG 12)
• implementing collaborative efforts to revitalise the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development (ODS 17)

2. Carbon footprint reduction
- Estimate of the carbon footprint at the Parque Tecnolóxico de Galicia S.A. and carbon reduction commitment.
- Calculation initiated in 2022; footprint verified by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, recorded in its register (Carbon Footprint Code: 2024-a0302). Tecnópole is committed to the implementation of a reduction and annual follow-up plan of the footprint calculation to assess efficiency.
- Creation of Tecnopole Forest to compensate the carbon emissions of the managing entity and, in the near future, of its resident companies. Tecnopole Forest has 1.800 trees so far, from 8 Galician native species: strawberry tree, birch tree, chestnut, holly, Galician pine tree, oak tree, cork tree and service tree.

3. Promotion of activities regarding sustainability
Tecnópole is a member of the UN Global Compact committing to the 10 Principles for corporate sustainability. Thereby, Tecnopole builds a strategic framework associated with the 2030 Agenda.

4. Construction of a unique wooden structure
Construction of a permanent enclosed space in a plot located next to the main building at the Parque Tecnolóxico de Galicia. The signature of the structure will be its wooden uniqueness.
The aim is to have a construction to host the Park’s events, as well as the events of its companies and third parties. The proposal is a free plan building with a transverse span of about 15 m and a surface of about 600 m2. From an architectural point of view, the building will be organic, with shapes reminding of different structures found in nature.
